Events Calendar Frisco, Dillon & Silverthorne, Colorado

frisco colorado eventsSummit County is filled with year round fun and entertainment. From the ever popular Dillon and Frisco BBQ Challenges, to the summer concert series in the Dillon Amphitheater, the 4th of July parades and the wacky Breckenridge Ullr Fest, the calendar is filled 365 days a year with events for the whole family. The ski areas and Nordic centers also host many ski and snowboard competitions throughout the winter season.


Frisco Events

frisco summer events coFrisco’s Main Street is the site for a number of festivals held throughout the year as well as the finishing line for numerous bike and road races during the summer and fall. Some events are held at the Peninsula Recreation Area, and the Frisco Nordic Center located there has snowshoe and Nordic skiing races. The Frisco Bay Marina is also host to sailing and rowing regattas, as well as a Classic Boat Show. The Frisco Historic Park and Museum has weekly events as well as special events and music in the park.

Gold Rush Weekend | February
Events at the Frisco Nordic Center to benefit the Summit Nordic Ski Team.

BBQ Challenge | June
Competition held on Main Street sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society with state honors to be earned. Live music, great barbecue to be tasted, games for kids, cooking demos and pig races.

Frisco Farmer’s Market | June – August
A showcase of regional produce, flowers, art, baked goods and more.

Frisco Founders Day | July
Events at the Frisco Historic Park and Museum to celebrate the history of the town over the 4th July weekend, in conjunction with the Downtown Arts Festival and the 4th July Main Street Parade.

Music on Main | July – Aug
Live music on Thursday evenings at the park at the Frisco Historic Park and Museum.

Art on Main Street to the Rockies | August
Art show held in conjunction with the Canine 4K dog race.

Oktoberfest | September
Traditional celebration of this German festival with beer, food and entertainment at the Peninsula Recreation area over the Labor Day weekend.

Beetlefest | September
This festival is to bring awareness of the damage done to forests by the mountain pine beetle and is held on Main Street and includes a lumberjack show, bug petting zoo and artists exhibiting the latest in bug kill products.

Wassail Days | December
Week long celebration of the holidays with wassail (Ol’ English apple cider), seasonal shopping, decorations and carolers held in December on Frisco Main Street

Dillon Events

dillon colorado events summerThe Town of Dillon includes the Dillon Amphitheater with its dramatic setting with views of the Continental Divide, Lake Dillon, the Eagles Nest Wilderness Area and the Ten Mile Range. The amphitheater is host to the Friday Night Concerts, Sunset at the Summit concerts on Saturdays, and Sunday Afternoon Concerts as well as country dance or east coast swing (jitterbug) lessons on Thursdays in the summer months. The Dillon Marina has weekly races and also a major regatta. The weekly Friday Farmer’s Market is located in downtown Dillon and has live entertainment as well as a vast array of locally grown produce and products by local vendors from June to August. The market moves to Marina Park in September.

Over 100 vendors line the street in downtown Dillon each Friday to showcase regional produce, flowers, art, baked goods and more.

Never Forget Our Soldiers | July
A musical evening with the Air Force Academy band followed by fireworks over Lake Dillon on Friday of the July 4th weekend. Additional weekend events on July 4th include a concert by the National Repertory Orchestra in the morning, a children’s bike parade, boat parade and evening concert with fireworks.

Dillon Arts Festival | July
Artists from around the country display their best in this juried art show in downtown Dillon.

Dillon Open Regatta | August
Top sailors compete for honors starting from the Dillon Marina during this weekend regatta.

Dillon BBQ at the Summit | August
Juried BBQ competition under the auspices of the Kansas City Barbecue Society.

Dillon Bluegrass Festival | August
Evening of great music at the amphitheater with multiple bands.

Dillon Craft Fair | September
Crafters from all over Colorado will showcase Colorado’s finest cottage industry crafts in downtown Dillon over the Labor Day weekend.

Lighting of Dillon | December
Children of all ages gather in downtown Dillon to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy complimentary food and beverages, and watch when the town lights go on for the holidays.

Silverthorne Events

summer events summit countyThe town of Silverthorne has both the Silverthorne Pavilion and the Amphitheater in Rainbow Park where events are held. Comedy nights, musical performances and fundraisers are held in the Pavilion. Community festivals are held in the Amphitheater.

Locals are able to sell unwanted items.

Annual Sk8 Over 8,000 Feet Skateboard Competition | July
Prizes are awarded to top finalists in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced categories. Skaters are judged in style, amplitude, difficulty, and overall.

Pumpkinfest | October
The lawn of the Pavilion is transformed into a pumpkin patch for children to choose their own special pumpkin on the Sunday before Halloween.

Holiday Bazaar | December
Local artists and craftsmen share their products for purchase.

The Swift Skedaddle Snowshoe Adventure | January
10K snowshoe race held at the Silverthorne Nordic Center at the Raven Golf course.

Breckenridge Events

breckenridge co eventsThe town of Breckenridge has the Riverwalk Center for musical events, both the National Repertory Orchestra (NRO), a symphony orchestra, and the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, featuring chamber music as part of the Breckenridge Summer Music Festival, also with jazz, blues, blue grass and country music. The Breckenridge Music Festival also hosts a winter series of music held in various locations in Summit County. The Backstage Theater features amateur theater productions throughout the year. For the 2010 -2011 season, Colorado Mountain College together with the NRO will be partnered with the Metropolitan Opera to bring a series of operas in HD to Breckenridge. During the summer months there are also numerous bike races.

Ullr Fest | January
Ullr is the Norse god of snow and each year local businesses take part in a hilarious Main Street parade with an Ullr likeness mounted on his horse together with his damsel, to honor the god bringing his yearly dose of liquid gold (snow).

Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships | January
Held yearly after Ullr Fest, teams from around the world compete for top honors.

Mardi Gras in the Mountains | February
Main Street parade on Fat Tuesday.

Spring Massive Celebration | April
Held yearly with on mountain competitions, concerts, comedy shows and Beer Festival.

Kingdom Days | June
Celebrating the colorful and diverse mining, exploration and adventure history of Breckenridge, with free historic tours, a gunfight on Main Street and also the extremely popular and zany outhouse races.

Breckenridge Main Street Art Festival | July
Over 100 artists from all over the United States gather to exhibit their products, including ceramics, jewelery, paintings, wood, glass and sculpture.

Oktoberfest | September
Held on Main Street and together with the Team Summit Ski Swap at the Riverwalk Center, this festival features beer, German music and cuisine, and collectible beer steins for purchase.

Copper Mountain Events

copper mountain coloradoThe Village at Copper and the Burning Stones Plaza are the venue for many of Copper Mountain’s events. In the summer this is the site for concerts as well as the Conference Center ballroom and the outdoor Pavilion tent site. During the winter there are many on mountain ski and snowboard competitions, including races, rail jams in the Eagle Jib Park, Superpipe in the Main Vein Superpipe, and events in the Catalyst Terrain Park.

En Fuego | Dec – March
Copper heats up the night on select Saturday nights with torchlight parade, street entertainers, bonfires, fire performers and fireworks viewed from the Burning Stones Plaza.

Village Race Series| Dec – Mar
Summit County ski race league on Wednesdays for teams of friends and co-workers.

Rocky Mountain Series | Dec – Mar
Encompasses all disciplines of snowboarding including superpipe, slopestyle, boardercross and alpine events for amateur riders.

Genuine Jazz & Wine | June
Two day festival with performances in the Conference Center ballroom and the Pavilion.

Warrior Dash | August
The ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes, this running series is held on demanding and unique terrain. Participants will conquer extreme obstacles and celebrate their feat with music, beer, Warrior helmets and muddy shorts.

Keystone Events

keystone co eventsThe River Run village is the location for many of Keystone’s events including festivals in the Events Plaza in the summers and performing arts, including plays, children’s theater, musicals, comedy nights and concerts in the Warren Center. Most of these are organized by the Keystone Neighborhood Company. Additonally the Keystone Village also plays host to some major functions. On the moutain and in the two villages there are numerous special activities for children. The Conference Center also hosts ballroom events to benefit charities such as the Wine in the Pines and Dancing with the Mountain Stars.

Kidtopia: select dates in winter on Dercum Mountain and in River Run – snow fort, disco tubing, arts & crafts
Kid’s Discovery Days: select Tuesdays in summer in River Run – magic show, sing-a-long musician, zoo animals
Family Fun Night: select Wednesdays in summer in River Run – bounce houses, carnival games and kid’s show
River Run Kidzfest: select Saturdays in summer – gold panning, petting zoo, train rides, caricatures, face
painter, balloon artist, kids’ show, bounce houses and much more

Country Dance Night | Year-Round
Held on Wednesdays in the Out of Bounds Saloon, downstairs in the Adventure Center in the Keystone Village with dance instruction from 6-7pm and dance music until 10pm

Dancin’ in the Rockies Dance Series | June – September
Held on select Wednesdays in summer in the Warren Center with dance instruction for different dance styles
