The town of Avon is at the base of the Beaver Creek ski area that also includes Bachelor’s Gulch and Arrowhead. It is only 25 minutes on I-70 from the Vail / Eagle County airport that has direct flights in winter from both Texas and California, and is serviced by most major airlines. Parking for the ski area is in Avon and access to the slopes if by free local bus. The town has also recently built some big box stores such as Home Depot and there is a Costco close to the airport. The town has many restaurants, shops, a golf course, large parks for family events and the Vilar Performing Arts Center. The town is notable for the large bronze statues commissioned by the Arts Council that are in parks and on some of the town’s roundabouts.
