In the midst of the majestic Rocky Mountains, the Country Boy Mine opened in 1887, and was one of the largest and most famous gold mines in Breckenridge. Today you can visit and venture into a real gold mine at this historic and restored mining site. During your tour you can “Shoot the Chute”, a fun thrill ride for both adults and children. After the tour you are able to try your hand at Gold Panning or if you just want to just come and try to pan for gold without the mine tour, this activity is also available.

Explore over 1,000 feet into a mountain. View the original workings of the Country Boy Mine as you feel, hear, and smell what it was like to be a Colorado Miner over 100 years ago. “Shoot the Chute” and experience the thrill of sliding down a 55 foot ore chute. You and your children will love doing this again and again, and it is guaranteed to kick your heart rate up a bit. Find and keep your riches as you gold pan in Eureka Creek. Examine old photos, original mining equipment and other fun exhibits to revisit the past and marvel at days gone by in the Interactive Museum. Pet the roaming miniature donkeys at the site.,
Cost: Mine Tour and Gold Panning: $35.00 per visitor, private tours only for a minimum of $100 for up to 20 people
Gold Panning only: $19.95 for customers 4+, Free Children 3 and under
Tour Times: Fridays to Tuesdays (closed Wednesdays and Thursdays) hourly 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, until 8/31/20
Duration: 1 hour, gold pan for as long as you like after the tour
Included: Mine tour, gold panning, “Shoot the Chute”, visit with the burros, interactive museum & general store.
Recommended to bring: the mine is 42 degrees year-round, so a jacket is recommended any time of year.
